Stock Control System (SCS) Sustainment

DCI supports CSC's sustainment effort by providing personnel with a wide range of experience - from architecture development and access of data via multiple distributed heterogeneous sources to extensive application software and DII/COE integration.

CSC's sustainment contracts include both legacy systems and mid tier systems with differing skill sets required for each.

DCI meets the legacy skill set requirements by providing skills using COBOL, CICS, DataComm, and MVS JCL in an IBM 3090 environment. DCI further supports CSC's mid tier sustainment by providing skills using CORBA, HTML, MQ Series, MQ Series Integrator, Oracle, C++, PL/SQL, and Java/J2EE in UNIX and NT environments.

DCI provides support to the following legacy systems: Financial Inventory Accounting and Billing System (FIABS), Item Manager Wholesale Requisition Process (IMWRP), Wholesale And Retail Receiving and Shipping (WARRS), Wholesale Management and Efficiency Report (WMER) and, Inventory and Storage Process (INSTOR).

DCI has teamed with CSC on SCS since program inception. DCI has provided technical managers on various tasks and participated in management decisions pertaining to management of various tasks under the contract.

SCS is currently a hybrid application with portions of its functionality residing in separate mainframe regions for each ALC and portions residing in a single enterprise instance at DISA Dayton. The combined system is several million lines of code and processes hundreds of thousands of transactions a week.

The engineering process for SCS is very formal and includes the customer at all stages of development. Formal design review (DRB), configuration review (CRB) and software review (SRB) boards are in place to help maintain design and development discipline across the project. Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) are also part of the process. Peer reviews are conducted at the end of each phase (design, development and testing). All DCI software engineers participate in the boards and peer reviews when required.
